Default Matte Painting for pre production - 08-22-2004, 03:55 PM

Some producers had a bad experience when they see the difference between
the beautiful pre-production concept art and the final result. And thatís why a
photorealistic matte painting which can be used later in the production will be a
better sales tools in pre-production.
There are concept artists who can do both concept art and matte paintings
for pre production. Craig Mullins is definitely one of them.

the differencies between concept art and final cut are normal, cinema is always a question of money. the concept artist is free to show anything he want, first of all to impress investors, secondary to show all the possibilities of the project and the wishes and dreams of the directors and producers...At that moment you are totally happy, confident, free and optimiste :) ...then, through the prod. happens troubles like you couldn't form the artistic team you wanted, all the money is not there, etc etc...the pre_production team you're alone or with a small team. For the final cut, beside the time pressure you are working with more people and have to hold on the style the AD want.
 :D but aniway, I thing it's one of the best job in the world.
