This is my second matte painting attempt.
The idea for this one is to clean it up , replace skies with a more dramatic sunset
plus maybe add a meteor striking the high building , still thinking if it's not too ambitious.
How do you handle a ref that is light by a direct sun light like the image i used for
the second half finish tower ? you repaint some parts use , play with the levels , or use a different image ?
Thanks!
there is a lot more to do but here is a small update
looking good so far, there are some areas that need a bit of work as you may have not realised what is wrong.
The fir trees look too similar might need some trimming there dont be afraid to put a few gaps in.
The buidings center lower the grey facade ones behind the building site need some perspective correction on them just slightly.
The rear tower block looks good, just a slight halo on the cranes, dont try and paint them look for similar reference and place them in. You need to fix the shadow so that its in front not the side. Use the tower at the front of the plate for reference and you will see that the front is in shadow. Compare that to the shadow on the building,
really pleased with the progress overall. Match your lighting and perspective and this will be a good matte.
Its been a long time since my last update , finally i had time an finished this paint.
Thanks again rockhoppermedia for your great help , much appreciated!
I know there is a lot more that can be done on this paint , but i must move on to the next one.
