Default Deep seas of Pandora - 01-05-2011, 10:31 AM

Hi everyone,
This was done for the cgchannel mattepainting competition. The main idea was to show a wreck of an alien ship, found 1295 feet under water by people, while exploring the depths of the sea. It took around 40 hours to finish. Hope you like it!

This was one of my favorite entries, brilliant colour scheme and execution. the DOF helps the image a lot. I also like how you incorporated the rock features like the ones from the original film in to this. The only thing Id change is the top left rock, I think the texture may be too low quality or out of scale compared to everything else.

Good luck with the competition!

Looks great, agree - as usual poor sea bed on Earth!
It`s so empty, so "boring" rocks and no vegetation, no crazy-looking sea creatures.... nothing alike forests on surface of Pandora. That`s just opinion ))

Good luck!

It is quite empty, but that's because the scene is quite deep in a sea and in a canion as well. From my point of view, there shouldn't be too many animals or corals, because there is not much light coming there. But this is my opinion :) Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with mpavlos. The world of Pandora ,as we know it from the first movie, is extremely dangerous but in the same time beautiful, with the thousands colorful lifeforms. Maybe i'm wrong but i don't think you'll have so much light on that depth. That centered rock is misplaced and the composition goes wrong, because it kinda blends with the ship behind it.

Damn, i haven`t even noticed a SHIP there... i thought it all rocks and rocks and rocks.... it really blends with stuff around.

Hey, I think this is nice. Good colour scheme, nice depth. True I think the lighting or placement of the ship could have been better, it's a bit lost. I also think the image could be balanced slightly better, maybe something of more interest on the left.
