For this painting I used a similar technique as my previous one -Dry Winds- It's a great exercise trying to reach a pleasing balance between different textures, moods, values, etc. I also wanted to create some kind of "dialogue" between the wet, cold, hard foreground and the warm, soft background.
Let me know your thoughts and thanks for watching.
Lovely stuff Andreas. As you know, i've always been a fan of your painting style, and the two you have posted recently are just the sort of thing I love.
I probably like this one a little more than the desert enviro, as I think the scale and composition are a little better (and I actually prefer the colour pallette too to be honest).
However, its silly to compare two such great pieces, so I'll just say awesome textures, lovely brushwork and look forward to seeing more soon!
Out of interest, did you create all the custom brushes used in this one?

Thanks for the kind words.
I think 50% of the brushes here I created from scratch and the others I got from masters Matthias Verhasselt and Maciej Kuciara (I tweaked some of them). But I think each artist has to find what suits him best and make it part of his natural painting workflow...I'm still struggling with it, but working with these kind of textured bushes can be really exciting and liberating.
