Great man, I really like the first and third one.. I feel second one seems to have some scales issues but then again it is a nice concept.

Impressive! Great use of colors. Also very interesting looking paintings. I really enjoyed them. Especially the first one I liked most.

Default Matte-paintings for video presentation "Adigeya" - 11-22-2010, 08:02 AM

Hi, guys!

Not so long ago I worked over the project - creation of video presentation for republic Adygea.

I worked over matte-paintings, concepts, rotoscoping and composing

Here some matte-paintings from this presentation:

These mattes are the close up of the main matte, with little changes:

And mountains snowy, for another screen:

And, I created making of, which includes small camera mapping and rotoscoping this presentation:

Thanks!

I hope you like this

These are actually very nice and deserve more attention. Good job. I like the breakdowns too, they are interesting and informative.

Since you know what you are doing and asked also for critiques - there is time for some nitpicking. ;-) This might be a matter of opinion and might also depend on these web-versions (or a crappy display of this borrowed spare laptop), but one point of critique with this fast glance would be that many of the images has slight feeling that they are handled to their limits.

Mostly it is probably just the surface, many (not all) have slightly too strong sharpening to my taste. If you compare for example the raw plate with shipwreck to the matte painting you see the difference - raw plate might be slightly easier to look, since not every detail and highlight pop out. It gives slightly more kind of "camera" -look opposed to "illustration" -look.

The other surface thing is noise. Sometimes there are uneven noise - for example that first Adigeya -image (which I like very much) has some noise at the clouds, very smooth (too denoised?) mountains and foreground somewhere in between. The clouds of the last Adigeya image are quite banded also compared to again very smooth mountains and snow.

But as I said - very nice images and enjoyable breakdowns, just with slight feeling that they are on the limit and can't be pushed anymore. ;-)

HI halen!
Many thanks! Ye, u r right

I have made adjustments in the last picture with sharpen to field
As for the noise in the final matte - I added it on purpose to create the illusion of digital noise. Possible to get not the best way:)

Anyway, thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
