Default Dark Tower - Citgo - 06-26-2009, 05:27 PM

Hey everyone,
Been awhile since I've posted here. But here's something I started working on and I'd love to get so feedback.
The idea actually comes from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. The scene is when young Roland and Susan go out to the oil field and investigate.

here is the original sketch:

and here's where I've gotten so far:

I think the direction is good so far. I would pay attention to your light source. It appears that your have established your lighting from upper left. The shadows on the pumps should cast straight to the right and the shadow of the tree should be completely off the screen. Also it seems that the hill on the left would cast a bigger shadow than it is right now.

Your perspective seems to be off with the far pump and the hill. The pump appears to be right next to the hill yet if that is the case it is too large. if it is not intended to be next to the hill then you need to work on establishing were it is. I think if you take the atmosphere off of the pump and put it around the hill instead, that might help bring the pump forward a bit.

It's coming along though and I am looking forward to another update

Some glints on the metal from the full moon on the left might sell the light source a little more. Not quite how I pictured Citgo when I was reading Wizard and Glass but everyone gets there own impression. I think some small building besides the oil rigs might help set scale.
