From what I saw, miniature models and matte painting are much more effective to design a virtual environment, rather than 3D.

I honestly don't think there's one technique that's always better. 'Lord of the Rings' and now 'King Kong' use a lot of miniatures, 'Troy' was all 3D and 'Spiderman 1 & 2' are a mixture (mostly 3D with some minatures for specific scenes).

It's all good.

I really love the colors, the touch and the landscape but not really this design of King Kong!
