Default The Bank Job - 02-07-2008, 10:40 PM

Hi all.

Here is a matte I did for The Bank Job last year. now the trailer is out I can show it to you all.

It consisted of the buildings, vehicles (researched to be accurate to the period) and digital actors. I spent about 2 to 3 weeks on the shot by myself. As it is a true story, the building and surrounds are accurate to the original structures that existed at the time. I worked off archival photographs to make sure we matched.

The matte:

The plate:

and I have a 17 megabyte clip of the sequence and a breakdown here: http://www.glennmelenhorst.com/Matte...ob/bankjob.mov

looks nice.. though i think there is something wrong with the corner where the painting ends and the real footage starts.. it looks skewed or missmatched.. the horizontal lines dont go parallel with the building

great work - very convincing and somewhat seemless - my eye moves towards the 'balcony' section above the main entrance - the masonry seems to carry over to the right a bit to far - but nice work all the same...

Max with Vray for the 3d and the rest is Photoshop.

That shot has one of the funniest lines comparable to the Italian Job of any british movie.

Thank you for that post I was trying to explain to my father what a matte painting was and I used this post as an example. He now fully understands what a matte is. Problem is we cannot watch a film without him being clever and shouting matte painting all the time.

anyhow I like the colours and spotting what vehicles there are on the road.
The attention to detail is awesome,

Rich
