Hi everyone, long time no post,

This isn't exactly new work, but it is updated work. There are 3 or 4 images on my site I've had on the "discard list" for quite some time, and a few of them I probably will take down, but there are a few I think I can salvage. At the time (a few years ago) I was really proud of the original version of the matte below, even if I grimace looking back at it now. So I spent a few hours working on it tonight--I'll probably spend some more time on it later, but for now I'm happy enough.

Good stuff! Like the last one a lot.

The lightbloom around the edges of the structure in picture below is a little bit too much IMHO.

Hi everyone, here's a new piece I finished over the summer. Technically it's not entirely new, but a reworking of an old image I did a year or so ago.

Hi everyone, here's a new one -- a small town along the coast, set against an alien landscape.

Love the atmosphere in this one, I think it would help a lot if you could some more sort of street lights along road left side to add sense of scale. It just a suggestion but this is working great as well!

Hey everyone,

I spent a few months, from mid September to November, working sporadically on an 8 image series titled "Aftermath". The series depicts the city of Bangor, Maine (I lived in an apartment here when I was a child) in a state of destruction. It was relaxing to walk around and photograph the Bangor area--I took over 500 photos over the course of four shoots. I knew I wanted to relight the images to some sort of moody, early morning look, and because I wanted to avoid the harsh shadows sunlight can cause I only shot when it was cloudy. There were times when the weather was overcast where I lived, and by the time I drove to Bangor and left my car, the sun was out. Anyway, I chose 8 photographs and selectively added destruction and some thematic elements such as smoke and fire. All of the images were created and double resolution and downsized to 1920x1080px. These weren't the most challenging mattes (I suppose they're more illustrations than mattes) and they certainly have their flaws, but it felt great to create a dmp-related personal body of work beyond a single image. I'm drafting a statement that delves into the "why" of the project, I'll post that on my site when it's finished.

Here is a link to the breakdown sheet on deviantart: http://jadrienc.deviantart.com/art/A...253A1354248704

And here are the images:

This next one is unrelated to the series of images above, but I'll post it nevertheless. The other day I grabbed a photo from cgtextures.com and spent an afternoon replacing everything beyond the foreground with a lotr-ish mountain range.

Thanks for looking,

Jadrien

Some great stuff in here recently! Not really much to pick out and crit in these, the overall mood and balance is very strong!
I'd like fo see a few more matte paintings done in hard sunlight as they tend to be less forgiving than the more moody and atmospheric overcast shots.

Excellent progress though, nice work!
