Hey all this is my first thread and pretty much my first proper matte painting.

I based it on the live plate of the waves lapping up on the beach. This was designed so I can take it in to Nuke and composite it. Hence the live plate. Was set up at 3k to get some z movement at 1920x1080.

This is my finished PSD as I did need to get it into Nuke to work with it. However any tips are welcome.

Still working on the Nuke composition but I will post a link up when it's done.

Nice vibrant colours! I think the atmospheric perspective on the structures and rocks you've added in could be matched better. The rock structure at the beach side seems to have incorrect perspective which makes the top of it look like its leaning towards the camera. The scale of some of the structures seems to be inconsistant. Ther are a few people in the image and one of the buildings looks too small to fit a person inside.

Its good so far but I think could be improved.

Yeah I would agree with you on those points. I'm Defiantly keen to improve it. Will post up an updated version at some point.

I have uploaded the final footage where I used this matte painting. In my opinion it's better than the crappy still I originally submitted haha. Vimeo only lets you upload one HD video a week so I will have to wait till next wee till I get the HD version up.
