Nice progress, I have been following your posts for a while now, and you have an awesome work ethic.
I would suggest doing thumbnails and quick sketches before you begin on a piece.

All of these are good, but in Volume 3, he does through the entire process of creating a Matte Painting.
Gnomon - Matte Painting for Film With Chris Stoski
This one goes over the entire process, using Photoshop, 3DS Max, and Vue.
