Yeah, the painters I tend to admire are usually very suggestive and loose with areas of their brushwork almost looking haphazard. It is something that I have continually fought with, as my tendency is to render and blend everything out. Leaving half the canvas as a formless texture took a bit of a leap.
Funny you mention my work environment, I used to have a second room set up to work in, now I am on a french easel in my kitchen with cat toys littering the background. I agree though, it’s always cool to see someone's set up and process.
