Just ordered a copy from Amazon and then I spotted this thread.

Whilst Max isn't compatible with the Mac OS, it is fine running on a Mac using Boot Camp to run XP. The new 64 bit processors built by Intel are used by both Macs and PCs. If I was starting out from...

As for the painting, very nice especially the palette. It would be nice to see it extend into...

Looks promising, not sure about "malevolent", looks fairly inviting to me...but then I did grow up in North Yorks/Cleveland.

Not sure what to suggest to make it more menacing so thought it better...

Great work, my one crit would be the strength of the black in the shadows on the left side cliff. They seem too black for the scene. I can see that they are like that on the original photo but it may...

I like it, not sure that there is much that I could add as it sounds like you have all the next steps considered already. Some extra snow in the valleys and eaves might help and then some light...

I don't have a problem with the converging verticals so long as the perspective is carried through the entire composition. At present, I think the boat needs tweaking as its perspective doesn't match...

I don't mind all the changes so much but I really, really do miss the "recent posts" links. Showing the last two doesn't help much if someone new decides to post a "hi everbody" message and/or...

I got a bit confused by the comment at first but then guessed it related to perspective rather than design.

I think there are improvements in the second version but I did prefer the first one...

"Hey Everyone" looks like a title for an introduction rather than a request for advice and you buried your question away at the end of your post so chances are people didn't make it to the final...

Thats really interesting to be able to compare times against images, puts them more into a production context.

Reminds me of the "olden days" when everyone used to put the render time for 3D...

You like doing ice scenes!

I really like this but that shaft of light coming through the hole top left is a bit wierd. It feels a bit too severe to me and I don't see where the light is coming...

Better, but the light on the lighthouse is all wrong. If it is a cylindrical form and the light is from the sun you should expect to see a vrtually straight, vertical border between top and bottom....

I think the VP is okay, it is where it is. I think the visual problem is that the perspective for the door doesn't match that for the floor i.e. you have different VP's for the floor and the panels...

Re: environment concept : north front

Yeah, downstage left has gone to black slightly, it would benefit from some suggestion of detail. It isn't helped by its proximity to the bright white snow on roofs and the shadow line just behind...
