I like the idea, but I think you could shift the composition a bit more(rule of 3rds or PHI), as it's currently feeling pretty centralized. You can also get more of the height feeling from opening up...

this was an in class exercise for students to produce a matte with 3 element types. one is hand painted (the added peak), a CG element which is the monastary, and a photo element which is the sky.....
