how mattepaintings r created for 3d animation movie?

friends, iwant to know how thw artists are drawing mattepaintings (environmental paintings)in 3d movie like iceage,openseason,shrek,cars etc..

whether they used any softwares like photoshop corel...

your colour sense is good,but u have to observe...

your colour sense is good,but u have to observe manythings,persp,dont use smudge tool more. it affect the pixel sharpness. i think u do ti with mouse?
