Small tutorial about set extension
Since a lot of people are still wondering what a matte painter really does in a studio, I put up an overview of most basic tasks you would undertake as Junior Matte Painter: cleaning, extending, light enhancement and grading.
This article is very simple and intended for the students and guys who want to begin on this path, so everyone else please don't take offence
I hope that in the future I will be able to put up some more advanced aspects such as architecture match up and camera projection
Anyway, here's the link
Let me know if it's of any use!
It is a nice tutorial and answers the question "what does the Junior Matte Painter do", which was the point (not so much about how those things were done, but that also might be quite obvious).
I like those rollovers because they make easily visible what was done. One thing I would like to see more, is the final "before and after" image of whole process.
Cool tutorial, Tiberius! :) Will be eagerly waiting for the camera mapping tutorial! :)
Thanks for the tut.
I'd love to know more about the workflow in a studio.
