They will come to town, New York
Hi everybody,

I just wanted to share my last personal work i did for my diploma. I made a 80 sec spot about the issue of global warming. I had to make a lot of projection paintings. So here are some of those and concept art i made for that spot. the working resolution was 4k to get at the end a 1080p master.
It is a lot of stuff, so please feel free to scroll down :)

Thilo aka Riddler

First a breakdown:
ORIG (from photoshot on location in new york)

PAINT STEP 01, erase all unwanted objects

PAINT STEP 02, paint destruction, plants, garbage

MAPPING, in maya

FINAL, after compositing

and now some concepts:

and some other shots:

Well done, indeed
It's almost monochrome yet apealing.
It does not look that good in the painting level, but after compositing it's just amazing.
Any tip in the compositing parts?

riddler 08-11-2008 10:48 AM

as i had the rough 3d geometry i rendered a lot of passes:
-light pass
-ambient occlusion pass
-xyz shader for depth channels
-outline shader (for blur to sharp 3d edges if needed in the comp)
-multible Fluid Fog and cloud layers

I hope this will help ;)
