This is a matte painting I did for a Commonwealth TV commercial. The scene was built in 3D to aloud a fluid camera movement. I used camera projection’s techniques to texture it. The TV commercial is on my website: jessyv.com

very nice stylized images. They have that hyperreal look. I like the full commercial as well. It looks as if your co-workers found some remarkably similar clouds to those I did on Daredevil...

Nice work on your site.
Ah! And I recognize those clouds from Phantom Menace, Mummy Returns,
and Attack of the Clones (waterfall scene on Naboo).

In fact, Rick, I think it was you who gave me those clouds!

Nah. Wasn't me. That still was getting kind of "overexposed" on
shots, so I never used it.

Yes Dylan, I wouldn't be surprise that those clouds came all from the same source;)
Answer to Rob Hinge: I used XSI to project the matte paintings over the geometry. I also used XSI to put some basic texture on each building before starting the painting in photoshop...

Thanks Jessy for your reply,..yeah I have been working on a video project for a while,.. mainly using cinema 4d for projecting the images,..but not having as much success as I had hoped,.. so I always end doing it in AE or combustion,..in z space etc,..thanks for the tips on your website,..hopefully
I will have something to show oneday soon,.. cheers Rob

Perfect Rob, can't wait to see some of your stuff :) The nice thing about using 3D software like XSI or Maya is that you can mix your painting skill with all the benefit and convenience of the 3D. This aloud you often to save a lot of time rendering element that would take generally hours if you were just painting it from scratch…

Cool Jessy,
This image looks awesome. Nice job on it.
And I know, as a friend, that what you're working on right now it's even better. You improve yourself almost each weeks. I hope you will be able to show on Mattepainting.org your new work soon.

Beautiful work, like everything else in your wok. You really captured that Paris ambience. Beautiful architecture details, wonderful rich browns and moody shadows. Spectacular!
Did you also do matte paintings with camera projections for the other flythrough animations of the commercial, or just the final zoom-in movement?
Thanks for sharing.
