Hi,

I've just stumbled on this forum and I'm in awe of all the fantastic images floating around. Excellent stuff.

Now, to my question...

I'm toying with a graphic novel project I've been working on, on and off for the past 6 years or so. I've got to a point where I want to create some visuals of the places in the book I have in my head. Most significantly a city.

So I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice about creating Cityscapes?

Thanks,
Doogal

The best resource would be Dylan's DVD

Introduction to Cityscape Matte Painting (http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/dco02.html)

That would be very useful, but I'm incredibly skint at the moment. So any "free" advice would be great!

Thanks for the pointer though,
Doogal

Then try starting based on a high resolution sky plate such as those available for FREE at:
http://www.imageafter.com

There are some good tutorials on how to start with a sky plate and manipulate it here;
http://www.mattepainting.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=560
and

Modifying a real plate keeps the image believable.
I also recommend studying Dylan and Dusso’s work on their web sites.
