Hi everyone!
This is my very first time matte painting contest,
and I am happy to be here.

Here's my first pass.

I have just started, and I have lots to work on.

Some Updates :)

I put down basic layouts, and trying to figure out nice compositions of clouds.

I still have lots to work on.
I will work on clouds, lights, winds, and etc..

Some Updates :)

I used Maya for texturing and lighting on planets.

I will be working on foreground and midground on this weekend.
We have one more week to go!

Updates
I changed the scale of star clusters.
Over all 65% done. I need to work on foreground and midground.

My Final Matte Painting

To make the required image size (4096 x 2304), I expanded my image from the base concept
and added the extension on the bottom.

I made a lighter atmosphere image to show details.

Programs I used: Photoshop & Maya
Maya for texturing and lighting planets
Photoshop for the rest work

It was a very good experience for me.
I learned a lot from it. It make me realize my weakness.
