DreamWorks Animation Seeks Matte Painting Technical Director

Location: Glendale, CA

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Communicate closely with Lighting Leads/Animators/Sequence
• Supervisors on shot/sequence requirements and potential Matte Painting enhancements.
• Create 2D/3D effects using Maya, compositing, and a variety of proprietary software.
• Works closely with Matte Painters in setting up of shots. Ensures proper geometry creation and placement.
• Provides support and development of tools and procedures, which extend and enhance the pipeline.
• Ensures software development follows studio policies and guidelines.
• Will assist in training and mentoring of other Technical Directors as required and appropriate.
• Attend weekly meetings as determined by a Department TD Supervisor or Head of Global Pipeline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience with Maya and an industry level compositing tool.
• Solid foundation in CG principles and theory.
• Prior experience with software development and integration.
• Experience with Maya.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
• Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
• Ability to program in Perl. Ability and willingness to utilize pre-established libraries and modules for code consistency.
• Customer first" mentality and willingness to provide direct support to individuals.

Recommended Skills:
• Experience with Photoshop.
• Art background with knowledge of color and composition
• Basic camera knowledge.

Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ years related experience
