Curious if anyone else was planning to go this year.
Last year was the first year I had went and it was great. I would definitely recommend going if you have not been before. The gnomon booth alone made it worth while with continuous demos 3 days straight. There were a number of other great demos throughout the exhibition as well. Guerilla studio, emerging technologies, and the user group meetings were all very cool. Some of the sketches and panels were worth while too.
If anyone else is planning to go we should arrange a mattepainting meetup...
just a thought.

Wow,
I'm surprised no one responded yet....its a great idea to meet people for "real". I will be attending Siggraph also. Brenton, I'm interested in this...maybe see if anyone else responds.

Any opinions on when and where? Some people were suggesting the ballistic/ gnomon booth. However, It might be very busy at the booth and maybe not a good place to talk. Also I would hate to distract from whatever presentation might be happening. We could also plan for sometime earlier in the week (sun or mon) outside the exhibition, that way there would be less going on and people might be more flexible. Possibly in the guerilla studio or lunch area.
Anyway, If anyone has any preferences to a time or place... It would be good to have a time and place by mid week for those who are traveling....

Ditto, although I think I must have said that each year myself for the past five years but I definitely intend to go to Boston next year - it will be an early new years resolution!

so I am thinking we'll meet by default at the ballistic booth or at the gnomon booth wednesday. not sure what time that is but I assume most of us will probably be there anyhow...
Other idea is to meet monday or tuesday around lunch for those who wont be around the rest of the week..
any thoughts????

hey bcottman,
it looks like wednesday is going to be a good opening for me, I won't be able to go the other days, I'm curious to see if that day is going to be good for everyone else. Are you planning to go the whole week bcottman?

I'm gonna be floating around from mon to thurs randomly to places, but I will definately stop by the gnomon booth on wed for the signing
I'll be around Gnomon/Ballistic Pub. booth around 12 on Tues if anyone wants to meet then since I can't make Wed meeting.
Need to pick up a DVD and Matte Painting book anyway.

Our matte painting supe Ivo (from Imageworks) will be doing a demo @ the Maxon booth; two other co-painters were also presenting Tues & Wed, but I guess that's a moot point now - sorry for that.
However, there's still time to catch Ivo (I think he's at 10:30 or 11:30a) today - he'll be showing breakdowns from work we did on Polar Express last year.
I was there these past two afternoons - didn't read this post till now. Hope ya'll enjoyed S2005!
