Here's a little painting I did after getting inspired watching the first chapter of Dusso's DVDs. I used one image as reference, mainly to get the color gradient from foreground to background right.
Here's something I found useful for this: I blurred the reference image and picked the colors with the color picker. I know that some people consider this cheating but in my opinion there's no such thing as cheating with a matte painting so there. ;)
Anyway, I quite like how it turned out, considering it's my first ever painting without sticking photos together. I spent about half a day on it.

Heh, I know exactly what you mean. ;) It doesn't have a purpose or a point of interest...

Hey, looking good Janine...its amazing what a bit if inspiration can do. :o Have you thought anymore about what else you might want to add?...maybe you could just keep it for an interesting comp.

Dunno yet... it would have to be quite big, it's all very far away, the fields are tiny... even if I put a windmill in it would be about 3 pixels big. ;) Still thinking...

Alright, I've added two little gliders, to give the image a purpose. :)

wow, those two little gliders have done a lot to the image. I have this great sense of calmness and seclusion... and being very high up.
Great. :)

Janine,
Ross is right. Also you put them in the perfect place.
No wonder you're looking for challenge.
Good job.

excellente work!!!
I think the left part of the main cloud (in the middle) doesn't look the same realistic that the rest of the clouds.
And maybe is a good idea what meurer said about the birds because I feel is missing something
but besides that, I think it's an amazing image!!!! :D :D :D

Hi Janine.
Top work. I'm going to try the "blur and colour pick" idea, very clever  . All my painting comes out WAY too bright and saturated 8) .
I'm going to have to come up with something to show here.

I actually had to adjust the saturation of my image because the original image I picked the colors from was too pale. ;) Can't wait to see some of your stuff!
