It looks good, but I think you only have the column shadow and the other shadows are missing.

Hi Vik,

I really like the idea! What is growing there? Please tell us more about this shot.

The critics: This is looking little flat to me- what do you think? I dont know is it just that I have used to see gigantig depth in mattepaintings or what? There is possibility that there is nothing wrong in that picture- I just like scenes with depth :) I dont know..Maybe those columns are too flatly lit?

Great that you have painted those purple/blue light rays to the floor-it really makes this one more convinsing.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your inputs.. i really appreciate it!!

Homer - It's true, only the column shadows have been painted.. in fact i didn't want to paint any shadows until later... i just felt something amiss.. I still do :( , Maybe it's the lack of depth

Juha Kinnunen - Thanks for pointing out the absense of depth in the columns. It's been bothering me too. I'll try to fix it..
The shot is for a new 4k video format that they are launching this year at the NAB. It's a part of the dream sequence from a short.

Will post the reverse shots when they are done as well

More critics/suggestions please !!

The center looks interesting,
By making surrounding area a bit low contrast and darker you might be able to show the best of the picture. Also adding some highlights to the columns might be good too.

I think your highlights are too soft.
I have to say that it’s a tough project.
Painting reflections, refractions and caustics is not that easy.

Here are some references you can get more info;
http://www.itchy-animation.co.uk/light.htm

also search for caustic images in Goggle such as
http://www.mk-art.cz/2003/Play%20of%20light/Caustic.jpg

Another good reference for light is www.goodbrush.com (http://www.goodbrush.com)
See how the caustics and reflections are sharp.
