Hi Everyone,

Here's a digital matte-painting, titled "a quiet evening", that I did yesterday, under 3 hrs!

Comments & critiques are heartily welcome!

Thanks,

Stretching a perspective distorted grass texture as an overlay layer would help your foreground.
Also the hut you have used obviously has different lighting compared to the scene you are trying to pull off. (the sun is both setting behind the mountains, and also casting a diagonal shadow into the hut on the right indicating that the sun is also above and infront of the hut)
I'd crop the image at the tree trunk on the right and 1/5th up from the bottom too, for a pretty composition. (so the image is in thirds, the grass, the mountains, then the sky)

Hi graphmac,
Thank you very much for the suggestions! Here's the cropped image of the above!

hey Kaustavsinha!

I'm a little confused to the location in which the matte painting is located. It appears to be a beach hut on top of a grass top cliff/mountain top, correct me if I'm wrong :) The first thing you need to do is to think about where you wish your mattepainting to be situated, give the scene some history to it and above all do your research, study grass until you are bored s**tless of it. You'll quickly realised where you've made your mistakes :)

Here's a quick mock-up with what I mean. This is very rough, it's really just an example of texture and atmosphere.
