This one is based on some photos I took when I was trekking in Colga canyon in Peru last year.
It's the world's second deepest canyon (more than a 1000 meters deep!) and provided some great reference photos.
I really like the matte paintings where the architecture is totally integrated in the landscape, so I wanted to give it a shot myself.
Thanks to all who helped me with ideas and criticism.
As a last update, I worked on the cliffs to make them sit in. I also drew in some more details on foreground plateau, to help make it look smaller.
