Although a more illustrative piece than a matte painting, the use of a few photographs as a starting point helped give the lighting and rendering a more realistic quality. (I apologize if you've seen this on CGTalk. Please enjoy if you haven't :wink:

And as requested in one of the discussions, this painting was a very quick study to copy a photograph from a book resting next to my monitor. I can definitely see how these studies help...so more are definitely coming.

And lastly, a sketch in progress. The building in the center is horribly blocked in. I'll be addressing that soon, as well as loosening up some elements and tightening the more important ones. I'll post an update soon.
