Hi all!

I'm new in here and i started to love this place. As a Concept artist i'm trying to get in to the matte painting industry. Just doing practices. Here are two of them with the referance photos. These are like 3-4 hours work. Any crits welcome.

I particularly like the first one, but my only bug about the second one is the secondary buliding on the right. I think if you match the colors to the original building on the left it won't stick out as much, or even take it out. There is also a perspective issue with the second building. The clean up work on the island is great.

Good work

Thanks for your comments!
Just practicing. I still need to learn alot of things.
B.Kachel - Thanks for the critics. The building on the right bugging me too. I tried to mach the colors but i couldn't. I just color balanced. Yea, there is also a slight perspective issue. How can i match the colors exactly with the buildings on the left? I want the right building be the same color with the one on the left. Do i just need to paint or is there an easy way to do that. I mean making the yellow grey. If someone can do a littler tut. it would be awesome.

thanks alot.

Nice! Good job on both of them, though the first one is my fav.

1st image: Two crits. First the sky on the left is a little blown out (bright). Its not really a problem, but it may benefit from a little more cloud detail. Also on the left side of the main rock (at the base), you have 4 smaller rocks that just follow the perspective to the horizon. I think that arrangement is a little boring. My eye just follows that line and I dont really get to "explore" that part of the image (ex: the 2 smallest rocks on the far left dont really get noticed).

2nd image: My only crit here is maybe take down the overall saturation a bit. The colors feel a little overpowering, especially the water.

As to changing (or matching the colors), the easiest way would be to just lower the saturation of the building. Maybe after that add a little blue in color balance to the midtones. If you wanted to be precise, use the info palette to compare the rgb values of the buildings.
