Hi, been lurking in this forum for a while, am working on my own project, this is my first matte which will eventually be a scene for an animation.

Have been trying many things just cant seem to make it look good, so some fresh crit would be great, i hope this bit of work doesnt offend anyone as its not very good, but im trying.

Not sure what to do in the middle of scene either so have just left it black, been struggling with the sky too, also there is gonna be a car in the fore ground behind the guy.
Theres lots of things wrong but i just cant figure out how to change them.

(Basically this is a matte/concept paibting to explain my project, which is a car that can be driven by just using your brain, so disabled and older people can use it and still have freedom to escape the big city.

The interior doubles as a mobilty device/wheel chair which u can drive out of the vehicle.)

Thanks ever so much for your time.
Paul

Well, I think the problem for me lies with the middle distance, there just seems to be a big black hole. Try adding another mountain or even some detail off the cravass to suggest the middle distance.

Also the sky doesn't need to be so curved like that, just paint it flat across and it'll be fine.

This is totally out of order but i sketched on your painting, mainly because I'm bored. It some times easier to explain with an image.

I added middle ground an changed the colour all round.

I will remove if you wish.

thanks again for your kind comments, i AM definately an ultra noob at this, theres some amazing work here, not only technically brilliant but each painting tells a story with so much emotion in, what this piece sorely lacks. My task now is to try my hand at camera mapping so when i have made my alias model of the car i can composite it into this scen with animation, this painting is really just a test to see how the shot would look.

Also onto the next one, trying to get a better mood.

for those who are interested here is some blurb about the vehicle.

Exploring the relationship between man, machine and mobility led to an inclusive vehicle typology which de-stigmatises disability. The car is controlled intuitively by the brain through a Human Interface Neural Device. Its design includes an individual mobility device which can separate from the mother vehicle, enabling freedom of movement for people of all abilities.

Thanks so much for looking.
