what is the exact procedure ?

respected gurus and friends ,
i have a doubt for a long time that

when making a mattepainting, we will use lots of pictures with different pixel quality,colour depths like 8 ,16 bits and also small and large resolution pictures,.and also different formats like jpegs,tiff,pngs etc...

how they convert all the things in to one colour depth?

is there any procedure for preparing a mattepainting before compositing in to the scene?

From my point of view, first of all I study the composition, making several concepts, sketches to watch the light, tones and all the stuff. And then, with the hole idea "done", I start, if it´s necessary, to add the images, textures and working with all of them (adjusting levels, curves,tones,lights...) with the sketches as references.

And practice of course. Step by step and patiente :)

Really we use different bit depth images for matte when it's coming out as log format is it does have all the information.?? please replay anyone..:)

I would suggest 1 thing , try to paint the entire scenario which is present in your mind ( speedpaint it ) . Then try using images you want for adding textures or the whole images as per ur need. PAINTING .....is essential .....
