Heyo all, it's been awhile since I posted my Temple of Knowledge matte painting back in October, just been wracked down by finals hehe.
Here's my second matte painting, assignment to make it from day to night, make water move and add another "interest" of your choice to the shot.
The second shot is just to add more story, a full 3D scene of the sword upclose.
Time to make abouut 5 hours for preliminary look, then extra 20 hours or so to get the animation and renders working in After Effects/Maya.

Story/Concept:
"A legend, can it be true? In the full moonlight's ray, under the fridgid blue cold, will emerge a runic sword. Formed of ice, and magic, the sword constantly emits pressure of intense yet playfully wispful snow. This was where the true stone hedge originates.
The monlithic Celtic stones you see in present day were actually done in homage to this great legend heard thousands of years ago. The original stones were lost some ages ago, so the surrounding people built a replica of the legendary stones to remind them of how great an artifact used to exist before their time."
