Hello MP.org; l o n g time no post - I just seem to get busier and busier! Here are some web screen grabs of shots with some of my matte painting work from the I am Legend trailer that came out a few weeks ago:

In the first shot, the camera booms up above the entrance to the flooded tunnel; I projected weeds and cracks onto the streets, grime & weeds on the walls (especially along the waterline), and the traffic signs.
The second shot is a lock-off: I added weeds & cracks to the road (in and around the vehicles), grunged up a bunch of signs & buildings, and painted a shaft of light towards the end of the street - this was a lighting que I suggested that would reinforce the shaft of light cutting across the gas station, which already existed in the plate.
In the third shot, the camera pans down off the "re-worked" New York skyline (you could barely make out the Chrysler building in the original photography), and added a bunch of weeds in between the automobiles.
Don't know if these shots will look anything like the way they appear here in the trailer. Had to rush through all of these at a frenzied pace. It's the way things go sometimes; it seems like the movie trailer has become a production onto itself, and many times you won't even see the trailer shots in the final movie!
Anyhow, just thought I'd share. You won't see too many updates from me for awhile. It's become increasingly impossible to post work samples on the web these days, even on one's own site for portfolio purposes. Perhaps, in the not so distant future, I'll only have detailed descriptions on my site, with no pictures. Maybe something like, "Here's a matte painting I did at ILM - imagine there's this big ark, like Noah's ark, but the filmmakers only built part of it physically ...."
