San Francisco based Perpetual Entertainment is looking for three (3) concept artists for their upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online.

You'll join a talented concept team from companies like Oddworld, Lucas Cryptic and others to help define an original look and feel for this highly anticipated MMO.

We don't really care so much about your background -what's more important is that your 1) talented 2) passionate about great design 3) able to work well with others 4) want to learn and improve your craft.

The positions focus on hard-surface designs (ships, weapons, props etc.) These are entry level spots and you must be able to work on-site for 18 months.

OK, now for the official job description:

Job Purpose:

To produce artwork that inspires and informs game design and the project team. Taking direction from the Art Director the conceptual designer will create artwork which defines the design, aesthetic and function for various project elements. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating original artwork for game production and for use in game design documents and promotional material.


•Work closely with Project Leads to develop concept artwork that defines the overall look and art style for the game.
•Work with Art Director and Assistant Art Directors to design specific game elements, settings in regards to both their aesthetic qualities and functional needs.
•Meet project deadlines / milestones, as set by project leads, and the production department.
•Actively Participate in concept art and project meetings.
•Excel as a team player, striving to maximize team / department performance.
•Perform special projects as assigned.
•May be asked to help create textures, matte paintings or skyboxes.


•A portfolio demonstrating outstanding drawing and fine art skills. May include:
oFigure drawing, illustration, painting and sculpting with a strong emphasis on environmental design both interior and exterior.
oAdaptability to various genres and styles
oTexture maps
•Minimum of one to two years of professional experience in gaming or related field.
•BFA strongly preferred.
•Strong Photoshop / Illustrator skills
•3d Software skills, 3DStudio or Maya.
•Modeling/lighting skills
•Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation.
•Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
•Posses creativity and attention to detail.
•Must be receptive to art direction and perform well within a collaborative team environment.
•Must be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure.
•Must be willing to work overtime if required.
•MMO Gaming knowledge an asset.

Extensive portfolio demonstrating abilities with characters, world items, weapons, environments.
