Hey Everyone! I'm working on a project at the moment where there are a lot of desert shots, all shot as stills in the Sahara, and Ive started stitching them together, and "day for night-ing" them. the problem i have is this: its been decided that the sand will be illuminated by a kind of aurora borealis lighting effect. Im doing sky replacement, so the sky is no problem, but because the ground is camera projected, its self illuminating, and lighting dosent affect it! I thought i could bake the projection in, but cant find anything about how to do it (or I cant see the wood for the trees...)

Any help is much appreciated! As soon as i get these desert shots working, ive got a load of 3d backgrounds to paint up - I cant wait!

WIP! When ive got some stuff finished, i`ll post it in the forum for crit!

It would make sense to day for night your projection, and map it to geometry. Then render that as a pass.

Change the texture on your geometry to black and re light the scene with whatever effects you want and then render this out as a pass also..probably luminence and specular may help..then comp the lot together, so that your light effects are completely controllable.

Or you could apply your matte as a normal texture, unchanged (ie. not day for night but day) and apply lighting in 3d to get what you're after..

I`ll try that - Thank you so much!
