Hi there!
Sorry, I don't post stuff oftenly because I don't have a lot of time to produce personnal artwork since I'm at digitaldimension.com in Montreal.
But anyway, here is a personnal matte-painting that I did during Christmas holiday. I took some photos with my digital camera on top of the empire state building in New York City last summer while I was at SIGGRAPH 2006 Boston, there is only 4-5 hours of driving between.
The modeling of the ships was done by a friend of mine: www.kami.ca (http://www.kami.ca)
Of course, any comments or suggestions are welcome!
Cheers

Thats a cool concept but are the backsides of the buildings really that dark? I mean I can see no nightscene here...

Extremely cool! I love the fact that it's so crisp and clean. It really gives the impression that you've done such a good job that you don't have to "hide" anything, if you know what I mean.
Any chance of seeing details?
My three kids really did their best to make sure I didn't spend too much time in front of the computer this Christmas holiday  (Like I would be able to present something this cool anyways...)

fillishave: Yes, I could maybe post few close-up. I'll try remember.
Xdreamer79 : You're right, the front facade of the buildings are too dark. I have definitely problems with my new DELL LCS Screen. Colors and brightness are the same as usual. I don't know how to fix this hardware problem. Have no IT at home. I would need 2 monitors, one big LCD and an great old CRT. :)
eol: Absolutely true, the smoke are not there yet: brightness and sharpness. Thank for your comments. I saw this image too much!!!
Thank you.

Hi Frederic... let me try this in French.
( Damn my french is rust, it was hard to write those sentences. Well I guess you get the point. )
Best regards!
Ricardo.

Really nice matte painting! I like the overall composition and the lighting. Also the clusters of taller buildings in the distance and bridges connecting throughout the scene are cool design details. Great action in having the ships flying-in too - I can just see this as a final moving shot. Great job! Keep up the good work.

Ricardo Garces: Oui, j'ai mis la navettes hors focus parce que je ne suis pas arrivé a bien les integrés dans l'environnement. J'avais seulement 3 jours pour faire ce travail. Il m'aurait fallu plus de temps.
By the way, your french is really good!
Cheers

this has been on the index of your site for quite a while.
i really like your personal stuff because it is very similar to what i would like to do once i get around and find the time for it.
however, it was impressive to read how much
the matte supervisor of pirates 3 enjoys your work.
you should be posting more. this kind of feedback sure does feel goode.
keep it up. hope you'll be able to create some more personal work soon.
