Position Title: Digital Environments Artist (Digital Features)
Department: Lucasfilm Animation (U.S.)
Position Summary:
Works closely with the Art Director to create foreground, mid-ground and background digital sets to be used in an animated feature.
Primary Responsibilities:
Completes work within the bid timeframe, while maintaining constant communication with production team.
Gathers reference through different mediums including digital photography and creates loose digital comps that represent final matte paintings for the planning stages.
Creates lighting keys for digital environments.
Creates final digital sets utilizing a variety of tools and approaches.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelors degree in painting, industrial design, or fine art preferred.
Two or more years of related production experience.
Strong traditional art skills, including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, and composition.
Strong knowledge of photography, especially in relation to lenses.
Expertise in 2D paint software and techniques required.
Understanding of compositing software and techniques, 3D modeling software and techniques, and knowledge of 3D animation software with regard to creating camera moves and scenes.
Physical Requirements:
Uses a computer keyboard at least 80% of total work time
