The rocks are really good. The whole thing is seamless. Love the mood as well. Could you show a wireframe so to show where the 3d rocks start and the painting begins?

Hello
I'll try to answer about questions...
Fouregroung : 3D rocks (mix between Xsi and Lightwave), and i paint texture in photoshop.
Middle : Montains to the left, center en right are painting with photoshop.
Background : simple picture.
Fog : created with photoshop.
And all the rest of details are painting in photoshop.
Perspective and light are calculated in 3D.
I like working with several softwares. Jumping to Xsi to Max or LW...and play with compositing software. the obectif ultimate one is the picture, only the result counts...Excuse me for my english

hi great work im a noob at all this and im more interested in useing mattes in video, I see alot of matte paintings made in single shot frame but how would u do the same if there is a camera motion etc would u use composites of all those items and obj or would u have to use a 3d program to then re-create the motion and keep everything at its perspective?

 Hello Kaz :)
I'm not sure if I understand you !!
You would like to know how we can use a matte in movement (video),
or put something (matte) in the background....
Well, it's very easy !! there are several solutions...
1/ you can use 3D software, create a 3D background and use a camera mapping, or texturing a cylinder, sphere or other objects with your matte etc...
2/ Use a compositing software (i use Digital Fusion, combustion and After effect) a put your matte in background
In fact, that depends on the camera movement.
You have to get your picture (matte) in *.tga files etc...*.rla, *.rpf if you want adding fog effect, blur etc...
I advise you not to be slave of 3D software. Use compositing software for more effect.
I hope this has answered your question. :?
Thanks for your interest.
