We are making a cheap short and in some sequences we want to add some matte paintings, the scenes are fixed scenes, I want to say there is not any motion tracking because we think it will be easiest to integrate video and painting.
The question is the next, waht is the best way and the software you use?
We have PS 5, yes, we can transform the video to image sequence and make the process frame by frame, but is there other way to do it?
thanks.

Well you can do it frame by frame, If you used a green/blue screen you can probably key it out in your editor though not a good as a compositing program. If it is still camera then importing it at that point would be pretty easy. If your editor cant handle it and you dont have the money then doing it frame by frame is almost the only option. However you could use the same trick that they used to use with glass, assuming its a still camera shot you can make an alpha on your matte where the live action is going to be and it will be transparent in the video app, but this is assuming that your video plate and your matte have the same initial foreground, if they are completely different then your outta of luck and back to rotoscoping.

Thanks for the answer.
Yes, I think we will have to use rotoscoping.
