Amazing stuff. Went to see the movie on wednesday, and I must say your work really trick me. Nice job!

It's amazing to have a movie so vivid in one memory, and then see what is not real on screen.

You got yourself another fan!

Best regards,

Ricardo.

Man! I was totally fooled.

Are you allowed to show any step by step process shots?

Are you using any 3D models to create the building enhancements basics or doing pure pixel pushing & painting?

Just great tonal work. Seamless and very lifelike. Dstipes request seconded.
Love your site great work. Those riddick tetures in the rock. Did you get them from photo ref, computer or eyeball?

Hi
thanks for the positive comments, the first MP - gandolfo castle was a mixture of 2d and a little 3d - I modeled some basic geomitry for the 3 domes and rendered out and ambient acc pass in cin4d. This is the only bit of 3d I used, just as well as my 3d knowledge is basic! - all rest was 2d - photo ref/painting, getting the lighting correct on the domes was tricky.
The textures I used for the majority of the riddick painting was from lava ref I found on the net - loads and loads of painting in those particular shots (lava and ice shots) as the main lava structures in the foreground are in your face , so to speak and had to be fairly detailed.

Really nice work! Like everyone else I was really impressed by the DaVinci Code work. Often when I'm watching a movie you look at a shot and think "ah, a matte painting" but I didn't even realize those shots were altered until I saw an article about them on the web.
