Epsilon Station

Hi All!

Here is my current matte project entitled “Epsilon Station”. This is going to be a refinery like setting on a mars type world. For this piece I’ve used several images from the mars rovers as well as personal images of the sky for the back drop and several shots of Red Rock Canyon to make the mid-ground mountains. You will note that the building is no where near finished (again the project is not done), it is currently made up of segments from a photo of burnished steel. I will be adding storage tanks & pipes as well as windows & weathering soon.

Your still in the early stages. My one comment is that the composition isn't balanced. It's very heavy on the left side.

Hello all

Here is the latest update on Epsilon Station. As you can see it is taking shape, but still has a ways to go. I've added storage tanks and pipes behind the refinery and I've added a landing field and support structures which will look more like the main station soon as they are just sketched in for now. I'm planning on adding a space vehicle of some sort on the landing field as well.

Your roadway distorts perspective, you may want to adjust it. The coloration is working well, though you may want to add slight redish tinge toward the base of the objects to get a feel of bouncing light / color.

Hi All

here is more progress on the image. its been slow, i was pulled away from the project for a bit, but i finally had the chance to work on it some more today. As you can see i took out the landing field-it was just not working for me. Instead i've added another wall of mountains, thus creating a canyon in which Epsilon now resides. i still have a bit more to do with details and hightlights, but the majority of the elements are in place now.
