Hi everyone.
This thread comes after the explanation that the incredible artists from HatchFx placed on "How Hatch did it?".
This is a request for assistance from anyone that is experienced, to make a tutorial on how to animate and correct mattepaintings.
Please help build a tutorial with pictures, on how to do this.
Still matte paintings are nice, moving ones are nicer.
Thank you very much.

Can you say more about your questions?
Are you asking how to add camera movement like pans, tilts or 3D moves or adding motion with clouds, lights, birds, cars?
What needs to be "corrected"? Color? Blend edges?

I meant, Camera movements, and plate corrections ( perspective correction ).
Adding moving objects should pose no problem to anyone, I think. It is a matter of correcting the values of the moving objects to the ones of the matte painting, then either rotoscoping the footage, or if available, use a mask layer .
The difficult stuff, is moving a camera along the painting, and get the sense of distance and depth.

You mean this:

?
It is not that hard...
And use layers - foreground, midground, background, sky, mist, haze, sunglow...

Hi Kutkin,
that is exactly what I was looking for. I had already seen it once, but I found it somewhat hard to do.
I still don't find it easy, but this time I will try to do it.
Thank you very much, for your help!
