Hello, I am presently working on a matte for my matte painting class and am looking to tie it together a bit more. If you have any ideas that may be helpful please let me know.
Thank you, christian

Hmm, let's see...
The composition looks fine by me. And the chosen image and subject looks very good.
I marked a few points that I suggest you pay attention to.
1,2, 4 - Do you see the shadow and light on these houses compared to the where the light is coming from?
That's right, it doesn't look ok. You have chosen a plate that is opposed to your light source.
But this choice might be good, because you are making an evening shot, so people should have the lights inside the houses turn on, by now. Use this lighter faces, in your behalf. Paint great looking yellowish or redish lights coming from inside... in other words, light the streets on.
3 - That river entry does not look good near those big houses. I know in real world it's something that could happen. But in drawings or paintings, it does not look good. Do something about it. Add some Naval port detail to it. Maybe a big liner coming in or out... don't know.
5 - No problem here. Very nice in my opinion. Light is also good.
Hope I have helped, maybe one day I will read your name on some major Hollywood movie credits! Keep up the good work.
Try putting some light on the left side of island no5
and i am a little annoyed with super wide lens?!
and house in right corner doesnt help at all
