Just curious. Anybody using The Gimp, or other programs such as Paint Shop Pro perhaps? I'm still using the free version of Photoshop Elements (1.0) that came with my Wacom Intuos2 a few years ago, but have decided it's about time I moved on to something with a few more standard pro features such as channels. Photoshop CS2 would be nice, but I would rather spend my savings right now on a digital SLR camera.

Try Gimp it's free, and I think it has some similar features. I haven't used it because I got PS already but I have been told it's the Linux equivalent to PS.

Thanks for the replies. I guess nobody here is really using any alternatives :? Yes, I might give The Gimp a try once again. I did track down a few articles that mentioned certain fx houses who did use it. Or more so Cinepaint the film version. Painter is good, I have a cut back version of that which I sometimes use. Might also try the paint tools in my old copy of Commotion which I'd forgotten about. Normally use that for rotoscoping etc.

Oh, and RiKToR, there's an OSX version of The Gimp aswell I believe.
