Hey guys,

Just a tricky one by the way....
I have some problems at Digital Dimension.com working with Alpha-channels in SGI files format under Photoshop CS2.

As far as I can remember (in Photoshop 7 or CS1), it's possible to save
alpha channel in a SGI 16 Bits RGB format but for a reason I don't
know, when I save in [*.SGI; *.BW; *.RGB; *.RGBA] Photoshop seems to
mix the alpha channel with RGB which gives this stange pink and green
rainbow colors in my file. Why?

And when I save in [*.RGB; *.SGI] I have this dialog box: "Could not
save as a copy because of a problem with the file-format module
interface"

Maybe the SGI.8bi file format Version 1.2.96.4 plugin is too old for CS2?

Both ways does'nt work and I don't have any ideas why.
Do you have any ideas about this problem?

Thank you

hey frederic, I have the new plug-in you need. Just ask Olivier for dominic's email. I'll send it to you.

You also need to change the way XSI read the 16 bit texture. Somewhere in the texture option, there is a switch for "read from disk" or "keep in memory" or something like that. I can tell you more tommorow once I'm in front of XSI.

Hi Doom,

THank for that. I am happy to know that there is a plug-in for this. Sorry but who is Olivier? I would like to have this plugin.

But yesterday, I found how to fix it. It's a file format conflict. I mean, it's works but, again it's the old SGI plugin.

The way to fix it...
Just get rid off this file in your:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\File Formats\sgiimage.8BI

And you'll be able in CS2 to read, edit and save SGI 16Bits RGBA.

This is where I am with this problem
