I am trying to understand this.
Do I use a real photo, then add things...or can I use a CG still I have done
Either way. This is the best one I've done thus far
I only used Terragen, and Paintshop Pro.
Can't use Photoshop here at work :(

I figured a MATTE PAINTING is not fully developed with a CG IMAGE
I found a Photo of someone's pool. Very nice image.
But I wanted to cut down the trees, add more rocks, let the earth
erode and develope mountains, and give a brighter sky. Let the grass grow over the side rocks.
You'll see what I mean.... This is the original Photo

i think you need to start with the basics first, you're biting off more than you can chew. Learn the basic art kills, drawing and painting.

try to begin with something simple
like adding the big tower in the landscape-with-the-ruins-and-the-grey sky-plate.
work only with pictures, try to cut(extract) object swith ths lasso tool or paint on an associated mask.
try to find some good mate line.

Out of curiosity.. Why use a building/ruins...Is it cause its more
easier to manipulate?

I think Muni and Tchook are saying that its important to understand traditional painting skills and composition. I recomend you get Dusso's DVD's especially the second one! Its the nutz!

yes its easier to manipulate.
i say that as an example because you have the already the two plates.
and i think you need to lean how to extract an object from a picture first
(it might be boring i know but this is the real start for any good comp.
